Coco Plum Beach is a beautiful, calm, and quiet beach located east of Marathon. Although Coco Plum Beach is smaller in size compared to Sombrero Beach, it offers a peaceful, serene, and private experience for families that are looking for a truly relaxing escape. Like some other beaches in the Florida Keys, Coco Plum Beach is home to many sea turtles and their nests. From April through October, you might witness a beautiful sea turtle crawling to the shore to lay its eggs; however, there is typically a reduction of human activities during this period to ensure the nesting activities are uninterrupted. All tables, chairs, and benches are removed from the beach during this time. Additionally, all beachgoers are expected to pay special attention to the areas that have been restricted so the eggs remain undisturbed.
Coco Plum Beach is a free-access beach open from Monday to Sunday. It is just 8 minutes away from Coconut Cay. To get to the beach from Coconut Cay, head eastward on US-1 N toward 72nd Street Ocean, and drive for 5 minutes (3.3 mi). From there, turn right onto Coco Plum Beach Road and go for 3 minutes (1.4 mi); your destination will be on the right.
